Changes to the Engineering Library

Thinking beyond traditional library models, the Advisory Committee to Re-envision the Engineering Library, in support of the university’s strategic planning, has developed a set of recommendations to improve support for the teaching and research mission of the College of Engineering.

The committee – comprised of faculty, students, and library staff – recommended that the library’s electronic collections be enhanced, effective group and individual study space and computer access for engineering students be provided, and the role of librarians be expanded to better support the research and information needs of faculty and students.  The physical collections will be relocated and integrated with material at other campus libraries or the Annex.  The Faculty Library Board, the University Librarian, the Interim Dean and incoming Dean of Engineering, and the Provost all approved these recommendations.  All physical collections will be removed from Carpenter Hall by the end of summer of 2011.
