undefinedSmiley faces = laptops

"Whenever I see that smiley face I have to smile myself because Olin has laptops. Yes, it does."

OK, so James Taylor’s “Your Smiling Face” isn’t about Olin Library’s new laptop loan service, but the library is using smiley faces to let folks know if any of its laptops are available for check out.

A quick glance at the smiley face sign at Olin’s circulation desk means laptops are available. A sad face means folks should try again later.

Thirty new laptops began circulating in Olin Library last semester. The computers, Dell Latitude D520s, are for use in Olin, Kroch or Uris libraries only. Each has been engraved with an image of the clock tower on the front and a police operation ID number in the back.

Anyone with a valid Cornell ID can borrow a laptop for up to three hours and the computers can be renewed, if necessary. To learn more about the laptop loan service, visit <http://www.library.cornell.edu/olinuris/access/laptops.html>.

Other libraries with laptop loan programs include the Africana, Engineering, Fine Arts, Geneva, Hotel, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Music, Veterinary, Uris and Mann libraries. Stop by their circulation desks to learn more.
