Pre-Columbian Avian Imagery at Adelson Library
A collection of pre-Columbian earthenware objects depicting bird images will be on display at the Adelson Library at Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology from Jan. 15 through March 15. Included in the exhibit are bowls, whistles, bottles and jars created between the 12th century B.C. and 15th century A.D. in Central and South America. These works represent just a small sample of a major gift to Cornell's Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, made in 2006 by Thomas Carroll, Ph.D., ‘51.
The display at Adelson Library is a small selection of objects that will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at the Johnson Museum, “A New World: Pre-Columbian Art from the Carroll Collection,” which opens March 29 and continues through June 15.
