Feb. 12, 2009: Opening reception featuring Darwin scholar and president emeritus of Cornell University Frank H. T. Rhodes speaking on "Darwin: After the Origin." Lecture begins at 4:45 in the Hollis E. Cornell Auditorium in Goldwin Smith Hall. Reception follows at 6 p.m. in the Hirshland Gallery, Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, level 2B of the Carl A. Kroch Library.
Feb. 12 to Sept. 8, 2009: Exhibition of the documents, rare books, engravings, photographs and artifacts from library and other university collections, as well as rare materials borrowed from private collectors. Hirshland Exhibition Gallery, level 2B, Carl A Kroch Library. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Feb. 13, 2009: Visiting Curator Sheila Ann Dean will sign copies of her new book, “Charles Darwin: After the Origin,” at the Cornell Store, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Feb. 14, 2009: Companion exhibition opens in the Borg Warner Gallery at the Museum of the Earth. See the Museum of the Earth's Web site for more details.
April 30, 2009: Visiting Curator Sheila Ann Dean will discuss her new book as part of the Chats in the Stacks at Mann Library, 4:30 p.m.
June 4, 2009: As part of Reunion Weekend, the Library will sponsor a lecture by Darwin biographer Janet Browne, Professor of History at Harvard University. Hollis E. Cornell Auditorium, Goldwin Smith Hall, 4 p.m. Reception to follow in the Library's Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, Level 2B of Carl A. Kroch Library.
