Mann Library photography exhibit offers unique look at fungi

Get a closer look at the fungus among us at Mann Library.

In January and February, the gallery in Mann Library will feature the fungal photography of Kent Loeffler, who uses a fish-eye-lens-on-a-stick device called a borescope to reveal the small-scale majesty of the oft-reviled organisms, in the exhibition, “Miniature Landscapes: Photographic Adventures with a Borescope.”

Loeffler, a photographer for the Cornell Department of Plant Pathology and Plant Microbe Biology for the past 23 years, captured the borescope images in this exhibit for the Cornell Mushroom Blog, a teaching and outreach project of Kathie Hodge, an associate professor of mycology at Cornell and directs the Cornell Plant Pathology Herbarium, a collection of preserved fungi from around the world.

The exhibit will be on display from Jan. 21 through Feb. 27. A reception, with comments by Hodge, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 5-6 pm.  The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
